I'm a big fan of a blog written by a New York based venture capitalist. He posted on a subject that really hit home for me : filing for email bankruptcy.
I get probably around 50-75 email messages a day. About 60 perecent is from people that would like a immediate response, 20 percent I delete immediatly, and the other 20 percent is for my records or requires that I keep it.
I have had a Blackberry for a few years now and before that I had a Treo. I understand the value of being able to sort and process this data all day long. Since the device syncs over the air I don't need to spend time at the end of the day sorting through a pile of email as I can typically handle it as it comes in. However the other day I was staring at my inbox and I was sitting on thousands of messages that I hadn't touched in years in my Inbox.
I filed for email bankruptcy and moved them all out of my Inbox starting fresh. If you have sent me something that I haven't responded to please resend it - I'm starting over.
